Piment d’Espelette is a spice with PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) status.
A sweet spice from the Basque region, harvested from August to November, the mature Espelette chili pepper is carefully selected and hand-harvested, then naturally dried for at least 15 days in the open air. It is then put in the oven for several hours and ground into a powder.
The Espelette pepper is an excellent substitute for pepper, it spices up your dishes. Long in the mouth, it sublimates the daily cooking as well as all the most delicate dishes. It is a flavor enhancer that does not alter the flavors but reveals them, it is very slightly fruity.
This organic Espelette pepper jelly is a delicious accompaniment to foie gras, cold meats, fromage frais and hard cheeses.
Can also be cooked with poultry (to make a sweet and sour sauce) or incorporated into scrambled eggs.
Composition: Espelette pepper, cider vinegar, water, sugar, pectin, salt.
